Tom Cruise delivers dialogues in Tamil in ‘ Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' . Everybody's favourite detective Tintin speaks in Hindi in the Adventures of Tintin . Dubbing of foreign movies in Indian languages was a major trend in 2011.

Nearly half of the 244 foreign movies certified for exhibition in 2011 were dubbed in more than one regional language.

The Central Board of Film Certification gave certification to 244 foreign films in 2011 for public exhibition as against 298 in 2010.

The Board notes that the trend of dubbing of foreign films in Indian languages, which was started in 1994, has suddenly gained momentum. More and more foreign films are being dubbed in Hindi and other regional languages.

In fact some of the films are being dubbed in more than one Indian language. During 2011, as many as 128 certificates were issued to more than one regional language. What's more, unlike the past where the dubbed versions would hit the screen later – now the English version and the dubbed films are released simultaneously.
