The United Kingdom is believed to have agreed to extradite Vijay Mallya to India. Sources told BusinessLine that the assurance is believed to have given by British authorities to the Indian government during the India-UK Dialogue on Extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance, which concluded here on Tuesday. However, there was no official communication to this effect. Earlier this month, India had handed over a request for the extradition of Mallya, who has been slapped with a non-bailable warrant by the CBI for a loan default of ₹9,000 crore.
This came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over a list of of 60 Indian fugitives to his British counterpart Theresa May when she called on him in November 2016. The list had Mallya’s name.
