Birla Corporation Ltd, of the MP Birla Group, has commenced construction of a greenfield integrated cement plant of its subsidiary RCCPL in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra.
The company’s board had, earlier this fiscal, approved the setting up of the with a 3.9 million tonne (mt) a year production capacity, a 40 MW captive power plant and a 10.6 MW power plant using waste heat recovery at an estimated cost of ₹2,450 crore.
It is also scaling up RCCPL’s Kundanganj unit by 1.2 mt. RCCPL’s total production capacity will then increase to 10.68 mt from the present 5.58 mt, the release said.
Q3 better
On higher sales and better realisations in key markets, Birla Corporation posted a net profit of around ₹27 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2018, as compared with a net loss of ₹22 crore, in the same period last year. The growth came despite escalation in the cost of pet coke and coal. Net sales grew by nearly 12 per cent to ₹1557 crore (₹1,388 crore).
