Zydus Hospitals plans to set up a hospital chain in Gujarat by investing about Rs 1,000 crore over a period of next five-six years. Zydus Hospitals will soon open its 550-bed super-specialty hospital in Ahmedabad with an investment of Rs 550 crore.

“We plan to develop a regional hospital chain in the state. Our next destination is Vadodara. But other hospitals will be smaller in bed capacity,” said Pankaj Patel, founder, Zydus Hospitals. The family-funded business of the promoters of pharma major Cadila Healthcare Ltd, Zydus Hospitals already has a 180-bed hospital in Anand.

The newly opened hospital in Ahmedabad is capable to provide treatment for highly critical surgical and therapeutic areas including organ transplant, pancreatic stone removal, neurological surgery for stroke. “The facility will become a destination for lung and heart transplant in Gujarat,” Patel told mediapersons here. The hospital has imported highly sophisticated equipment and technology including the Gemstone Spectral Imaging Technology for detailed analysis and accurate diagnosis of tumors.

Aiming to match the international standards, the Hospital has also installed pneumatic tubes carriers for hassle-free and quick movement of samples for lab-testing providing lab results almost real-time. “We have designed the hospital keeping in mind the patient convenience by using most modern technology,” Patel said.

The 15-storey hospital also has a helipad on the rooftop as the management plans to start the air-ambulance service in future. Having 14 specialty intensive care units with over 160 beds, the hospital also has dedicated paediatrics and neonatal ICUs.
