The State government is in the process of introducing several new ventures to provide better amenities to the people, the Industries Minister, Mr P.K. Kunhalikutty, has said.
He said that a host of projects involving advanced technology would be taken up at the Emerging Kerala, the forthcoming investment meet being organised by the government.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the Institute for Enterprises, a new venture of Kitco Ltd, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary celebrations here.
He said that the youth would benefit immensely from the development projects being initiated by the government. He pointed out that projects such as Metro Rail and seaplane service to be launched shortly would usher in a lot of changes in the travel and tourism sector.
Call for expansion
The Excise Minister, Mr K. Babu, on the occasion urged Kitco to widen its spectrum of activities. He also lauded the role being played by the consulting agency in providing infrastructure. Kitco should be able to enter into power segment and port works.
The Minister also recalled that Kitco had provided ample support to the development projects through preparing feasibility reports for important projects in the state such as Cochin International Airport and Vytilla Mobility Hub.
Mr Cyriac Davies, managing director, Kitco Ltd said that the company was executing projects worth Rs 2,500 crore now. The prestigious works taken up by the company included electrification works at Jeddah Airport and construction of golf club in Muscat.
Mr M.V. Pylee, former vice chancellor, Cochin University Science and Technology, Mr A.X.Joseph, chairman, Kitco Ltd, Mr K.M.Nair, chief general manager, SIDBI also spoke.
