The Reliance ADAG Chairman, Mr Anil Ambani, has been nominated to Co-chair the newly constituted India-China CEO Forum from the Indian side.

The Centre has constituted the India-China CEO Forum with the objective of developing a roadmap for increased cooperation and mutually beneficial contacts and partnership between the two countries at the business level.

The other corporate honchos who form part of the Forum from the Indian side include Mr Anand Mahindra, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra; Mr N. Chandrasekharan, CEO and Managing Director, TCS; and Mr R. Seshasayee, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland.

Dr Yusuf K. Hamied, Chairman and Managing Director, Cipla; Mr Prashant Ruia, Group CEO, Essar Group; Mr Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge; Mr Gautam Adani, Chairman, Adani Group; and Mr Tulsi Tanti, Chairman and Managing Director, Suzlon are also members of the India-China CEO Forum.

The SBI Chairman has also been nominated as a member of the CEO Forum.

The decision to establish a India-China Business Leaders' Forum came during the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh's visit to Beijing in January 2008.

The Forum was considered necessary for catalysing trade and investment between the two countries.

China has emerged as India's largest trading partner. It was felt that the economic engagement with China needed to be diversified with greater thrust on investments.
