Two hundred students of Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) have got jobs in premier companies through campus placement which witnessed an increase of 18 per cent in the average salary offered.

The highest domestic salary offered to a student who chose an investment banking profile rose by 24 per cent from last year to touch Rs 26 lakh. The highest international package given to a student this time is $ 1.50 lakh.

According to an FMS statement, 97 companies in sectors like marketing, finance, consultancy and general management participated in the campus placement and they offered an average domestic salary of Rs 15.5 lakh per annum.

Five students rejected high paying jobs to accept offers from the most reputed financial institution —— the Reserve Bank of India. The RBI, incidentally, made the highest number of offers at FMS across any campus in the finance sector.

One—third of the students chose finance while another one—third opted consulting jobs. Eighteen per cent chose consulting jobs while 10 per cent opted general management.

Almost 33 per cent of the 203 students in the current batch (2009—11) had in fact received pre-placement offers on the basis of their summer internships.
