Billionaire investor Mr Warren Buffet on Friday called on the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, at Parliament House. He was accompanied by Mr Ajit Jain, who heads Berkshire Hathaway's reinsurance business.
“The meeting was very good. The Prime Minister is wise and very kind,” Mr Buffet told reporters at Parliament after the meeting.
Mr Buffet's meeting with the Prime Minister has sparked off speculation in the capital that the Government would in the coming days look to push the legislative agenda on the insurance sector so as to raise the overall FDI cap to 49 per cent.
During the day, Mr Buffet, who is on his maiden visit to India, also met separately the IRDA Chairman, Mr J. Harinarayan, and wanted to know if the FDI limit in the insurance sector would go up to 49 per cent.
