A delegation of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) lead by its Director General, Mr. Chandrajit Benerjee, called on the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, at Secretariat today to discuss the details of the proposed Partnership Summit to be held in January.

The mega summit is being organised by the Government of India, Government of Andhra Pradesh and the CII jointly.

Mr Benerjee explained to the Chief Minister about various preparatory steps required to be taken for the ensuing summit. It was decided to work out focus sectors such as manufacturing and service so that details of the countries and industrial units to be invited could be finalised.

Apart from focusing on business interests, the Chief Minister wanted social issues also to be focused and in this context mentioned about the “Rajiv Education and Employment Mission” being launched in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The mission aims at improving the skills of unemployed youth so that they all become employable and the State Government proposes to provide 15 lakh jobs in three years to the youth in coordination with the Industry through this mission.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Mr Reddy decided to formulate committees involving Government officials and CII representatives to work on various modalities.
