The All-India Consumer Price Index for industrial workers for April increased by 4 points at 205 (base 2001=100). Among the top six cities, the index was the highest in Bangalore at 209, followed by Mumbai at 208, Ahmedabad at 202, Kolkata at 196, Chennai at 190 and Delhi at 188, according to a Labour Ministry release. The point-to-point rate of inflation based on CPI-IW (General) for April stood at 10.22 per cent compared with 8.65 per cent in March. Inflation based on the food index climbed 10.66 per cent in April against 8.16 per cent in March 2012. During April, the index recorded the maximum increase of 9 points in Amritsar, 8 points each in Jaipur, Madurai and Vadodara, and 7 points each in Mundakkayam, Bhilwara and Faridabad. The index decreased by 2 points in Belgaum and 1 point in Munger Jamalpur centre.
