The 14th annual convention of Calicut Management Association (CMA) will be held on January 22.
The focus of the convention is to understand the drivers and obstacles to the economic development of the country in general and the region in particular, so that proper policy interventions can be fine-tuned at different levels to facilitate rapid economic growth in the future, according to the office-bearers of the association.
They said here on Wednesday that the lessons from the recent economic downturn were highly relevant to Kerala, which traditionally is least insulated from the global economic changes, thanks to the huge foreign remittances into the State.
The convention will analyse the lessons learnt from the recession and look at the potential for resurgence in different sectors of the State's economy like tourism, infrastructure, education, industry, agriculture, information technology and services.
Also, the convention is expected to bring out a detailed perspective plan for the economic development of the Malabar region through lectures, presentations and deliberations by experts. Leading economists, management thinkers, political leaders, bureaucrats and policy-makers would attend the convention, they said.
