The promotion of Coimbatore as an exhibition centre has gained momentum with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCI) organising the 8th edition of ‘The Chamber show' from Friday to Monday at the Sri Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam here.

For the first time, it would also showcase a large number of international brands in diverse products.

Speaking to newsmen here today, Mr M. Krishnan, President, ICCI, Coimbatore, said the fact that many of the participants were repeat customers showed that they were rewarded immensely by their participation in the show. Out of nearly 40 participants, only about 25 per cent were from Coimbatore region and the exposure of the brands to customers here reflected on the purchasing decisions of the people.

Laser shows

He said the visitors to the show this year also would be exposed to many international brands. To provide a sense of excitement, laser shows would be held inside the exhibition venue. He expected the visitors to the show to outnumber the 30,000-40,000 visitors who made it to the previous edition. The participants would provide best offers to the customers. One of the highlights of the show is the dance programme by the visually challenged students of Sri Ramana Maharishi School, Bangalore, on Sunday evening.

Mr Krishnan said the fact that a large number of exhibitions were being organised now in the city reflected the support the citizens have been providing to them. He said the chamber would hold discussions to ensure that its show did not clash with similar shows in the city.
