The traffic signals wing of Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron) has set up a computerised vehicle testing centre in Kozhikode. The Minister for Transport and Rnergy, Mr Aryadan Muhammed, inaugurated the facility, which is claimed to be the first government-owned vehicle testing centre. This centre will accurately assess the efficiency of the vehicle through digital means and issue a certificate. This is estimated to have a sobering impact on the worsening traffic regime in the state, which is threatening to unravel with deleterious consequences for motorists. Keltron has set up another computerised vehicle testing centre at neighbouring Kannur in the north of the state, an official spokesman said.
