The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has welcomed the admission of writ petition on court fee levied on appeal against orders of the Electricity Regulatory Commission.

In a release, Mr N.S. Srinivasa Murthy, President, FKCCI, welcomed the admission of the petition filed by the FKCCI, challenging the provisions of the Electricity Act 2003, and the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (Procedure, Form, Fee and Record of Proceedings) Rules 2007, which empowers a levy of Rs 1 lakh for preferring appeal against the orders of the Electricity Regulatory Commission.

“FKCCI felt that such a huge sum levied as court fee, for any appeal to be made against orders of the Regulatory Commission or the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, is a burden either for an institution or for an individual to challenge the order.”
