Eastern Railway posted nearly 36 per cent growth in freight earnings in February this year to ₹455.22 crore. In the corresponding month last year, ER’s freight earnings stood at ₹333.36 crore. The growth in earnings has been largely driven by higher coal loading.
Of the 5.49 million tonnes freight loaded in February, ER loaded 3.88 mt coal. According to a press statement, the Railway zone reported nearly 10 per cent growth in freight earnings, at ₹3,825.20 crore, between April and February of the current fiscal.
