The South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) has proposed to conduct a two-day programme on Energy Management in Spinning Mills on June 25 and 26.
The programme is being organised to cover aspects relating to energy consumption in different equipment and its management, the research association said in a release.
SITRA has said that with energy cost escalating by the day and its availability becoming scarce, there was an urgent need for the textile industry to manage this scarce resource by ensuring effective use and conservation.
According to the research organisation, the energy cost surpassed other costs in the total manufacturing cost in spinning mills; it has been estimated at 12-18 per cent per unit of production.
Energy audits conducted by SITRA also revealed that there was ample scope for conserving energy in areas such as electrical equipment, distribution systems, humidification plants, compressor etc., through proper selection and maintenance.
