Entrepreneurship is not for the rich alone but for every one and students should aspire to start small businesses that can blossom into big businesses, according to Mr Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director, TVS Motor Company Ltd.

He outlined continuous learning, quality education and team spirit as some of the key qualities students should aim to imbibe.

Speaking at the second graduation day of D J Academy for Managerial Excellence, Coimbatore, he said the country today has a ‘driven, hardworking new generation' with lot of opportunities and good working life. There are a lot of global players in India and today it is an ‘open world and an open economy'.

Mr Srinivasan said entrepreneurship now is not only meant for rich, not for the people with privileged background alone, but was available for a large section of the people. The industrial units that began as small-scale industries become medium-scale units and blossom into large-scale industries because of the ‘drive of the society which is very inspiring'. Students can aspire to build something small and develop it. He said there was ‘future for everybody' to make money in everything. He urged the students to focus on continuous learning, quality education and team spirit. They should try to reach the top by imbibing good values as that alone was sustainable, and to never lose self-respect. He advised the students to be ‘sensitive to the society, to the world at large' and asked them to ‘care for nature, because the whole environment is changing rapidly'.

The Managing Director of Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd, Mr Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, was present.
