The Federation of Indian Export Organisations has asked the Government to integrate all the 13 agencies with the EDI.
The EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is aimed at reducing transaction costs and time by facilitating transfer of relevant data electronically that can be accessed by different Government agencies.
"The latest annual supplement to the Foreign Trade Policy has offered some relief to the exporters. Several measures like extension of interest subvention till March 2013. To reap the benefits, there is a need for all the Government Departments to align their notifications and procedures," Mr Walter D'Souza, Chairman, Southern Region, has said.
"It is often seen exporters facing problems due to lack of coordination within the Government departments. It is important that all the 13 agencies involved in export-import trade are integrated into the EDI by March 31, 2013."
