France is exploring the possibilities of investment in different sectors in North-East following the withdrawal of Restricted Area Permits (RAP), the Consul General of French consulate in Kolkata, Mr Jean-Louis Rysto, has said.
After the formulation of ‘Look-East’ policy and withdrawal of RAP from different parts of North-East, France has been exploring the possibilities of investments in agro sector, tourism, hydel power, medicinal plants, mining and railways, Mr Rysto told reporters here today.
“I would have not come here unless there were any possibilities of investment,” he said.
A three-member delegation including the second counsellor to French ambassador, Ms Sonia Barbry, visited the industrial growth centre at Bodhjungnagar near here yesterday and consulted with the Chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation, Mr Pabitra Kar, and industrialists of the state.
The delegation left for Pencharthal today, a tribal inhabited area in North Tripura district, about 185 km from here to see the celebration of the three-day-long Bijhu festival of Chakma tribes.
“This would be a wonderful idea to be in the festival. I guess the foreign tourists from Europe including France would get good deal of interests in live and vibrant cultural exposure here,” he said.
