Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director-General, Confederation of Indian Industry , welcomes the positive growth outlook set out in the Economic Survey and agrees that the economy will revert to nine per cent growth in the coming year. Over the next two decades India needs to see “transformational” growth in order to create adequate livelihood for the young population that is entering the work force every year. The Survey's emphasis on agriculture, food distribution and infrastructure are indeed welcome. Innovative ideas such as the suggestion to create some permanent assets using the MGNREGS or the need for a construction-focused vocational training programme need to be taken forward. The private sector is also keen to participate in the suggested public-social-private partnership in the areas of health and education.
