Built by a joint consortium of Synergy Group, SPS Group and Mani Group, the IQ City Health and Knowledge Campus will have 300 beds in the first phase.

“The construction work for the hospital in the first phase of the project is progressing as per schedule and the complete hospital operations is expected to start up by this September,” Mr Sanjay Jhunjhunwala of Mani Group, told reporters.

After completion of the project in 2017, the facility will have 750 beds.

Apart from the hospital, the promoters will also provide medical education with separate departments in nursing, hospital management, dentistry, pharmacy, etc, he said.

“This will be eastern India's first integrated health and knowledge city,” said Mr Cecil Antony, chairman of the Synergy Group.

Partnering them in managing and operating the complete hospital and running some of the super-specialist departments, will be the Bangalore-based Dr Devi Prasad Shetty's Narayana Hrudayalaya group.
