Mr Gigo Joseph, Infopark CEO, stressed on the need for holistic development of Kochi as the ideal way for the city to become a world-class business hub.

“Kochi is on the threshold of a big boom, driven by the growth impulses of large projects, mostly Vallarpadam Transshipment Terminal, Smart City, Infopark,” he said while addressing a session at a seminar organised by School of Management Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). “To encompass this growth, it is essential to look at holistic development of the city. Some of the recently undertaken projects such as Metro Rail, and road widening are all steps in the right direction. But we need to ensure that the development happens in all aspects of the society.”

Mr Joseph's made these comments at a one-day seminar — Kochi: The Booming Business Hub – Challenges and Opportunities. The event was aimed at generating discussions; analysing the scope of the city's economic growth potential and challenges of its social, demographic and ecological impacts; and looking at implications with a view to formulating strategies for combating problems and achieving orderly development in the region. The CUSAT Vice-Chancellor, Mr Ramachandran Thekkedath, inaugurated the seminar.

Mr Joseph said Infopark has contributed greatly in the development of Kochi and making it a well-known IT hub. Today Kochi is perceived as a modern city across the country with its many advantages and is also a hot IT destination. “With Smart City also coming up, I am sure IT will play a major role in shaping Kochi as a booming business hub,” he added.
