Vehicle manufacturers are all set to showcase their new ranges of buses, modern luxury coaches, hybrid buses and mobile classrooms at the 2nd Bus & Special Vehicle Expo to be held at Hitex Exhibition centre here, between March 9-12.

The Andhra Pradesh State Transport Minister, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, will inaugurate the event organised jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

The Vehicle Expo is supported by Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India, Association of State Road Transport Undertaking and Department of Transport, Andhra Pradesh.

Eco-friendly buses

According to CII, the Indian bus industry, one of the largest industries in the world, forms an important part of the country's automobile industry.

Over the last few years, the bus industry has witnessed tremendous growth and new types of buses with better facilities and technologies have been introduced.

Continuing on theme of a greener world and green technology, BSVE 2011 will showcase the first Hybrid bus of the country by Tata Motors. The buses have low operating costs, better fuel efficiency, low noise levels and zero emission. Each 35-seater bus also has additional facilities to accommodate a passenger on a wheelchair.

Other exhibits

During the expo, Volvo Bus will also be launching a special Luxury Coach to enhance tourism in India.

Besides, the expo claims to have some interesting exhibits like Mobile Classrooms which can be used by corporate, training and skill development institutes to provide training to the targeted individuals in far flung areas without incurring much cost.

The vehicle has capacity of accommodating 30 students with an LCD projector.

Major exhibitors include Tata Motors, Volvo, SML Isuzu, Mahindra Navistar and Force Motors along with component manufacturers like Allison Transmission, Firestone TVS and China FAW Group. The BSVE'11 is aimed at providing an opportunity to network for the producers, users and related industries in facilitating joint ventures, technology up gradation and promoting exports.
