The India-Japan global partnership summit will be held in Tokyo in September this year.
The three-day summit will include an India-Japan expo and five concurrent forums, including the business, academic, policy, youth and cultural forum of non-governmental initiatives, the organisors said in a statement. The summit will focus on sectors such as agriculture, energy, manufacturing, healthcare, banking, information and communication technologies, among others.
The ‘India-Japan Global Partnership' initiative was announced in 2000 by the Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and the visiting Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Mori Yoshiro.
This year the summit will have participation and representation from different sections of the society such as business leaders, policy-makers, academicians, researchers, opinion leaders and the youth.
Speaking about the forthcoming summit, the former Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Yukio Hatoyama said, “India and Japan share a global vision of peace, stability and sustainable development. It is important to manifest these values in action on a global platform.”
