LPG transporters' strike hits refill supplies in Chennai

Our Bureau Chennai | Updated on October 20, 2011

A flash strike by LPG truck drivers at IOTL plant at Manali near here has resulted in stoppage of LPG cylinder despatches from the bottling plant. Meanwhile, talks are on in the presence of Government officials to iron out issues and resume LPG filling and dispatches, says a release from Indian Oil Corporation.

However, a major portion of LPG supplies to Chennai are met from Indian Oil's Ennore and Chenglepet plants, which are working to their full capacity and efforts are being taken to supplement the supplies, says the release.

It also requests Indane customers in the city not to resort to panic booking of refills as talks for resolving the issue at the IOTL's plant are under way and normalcy in dispatches from that plant is expected soon.
