Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd and Green Village Ventures Pvt Ltd (GVV) have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide environmentally sustainable energy solutions to the rural communities in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
GVV is a part of Green Ventures, a carbon advisory and renewable energy solutions company, having offices in Mumbai and New York.
The MoU is a part of MCX's corporate social responsibility project, Gramin Suvidha Kendra.
It is a platform developed for farmers and provides agriculture prices and other related information.
Going beyond its original activity of providing price information, GSK will provide information about green energy products developed by GVV, according to a press statement issued by GVV.
Affordability
MCX and GVV will work together through the GSK platform to create awareness and implement green sustainable solutions at affordable prices and through innovative financing, the statement said.
“This cooperation will allow GVV to implement our tried and tested Rural Social Enterprise model for poor communities across India,” said Mr Krish R. Krishnan, Chairman of GVV, in the statement.
Pilot project
GVV is already running a pilot project of providing solar lanterns to remote villages in Solapur district of Maharashtra.
It aims to integrate clean technologies with finance from micro finance institutions to rural communities.
