The Annual Plan for Madhya Pradesh for 2012-13 was finalised at Rs 28,000 crore here on Friday. The Plan size was fixed at a meeting the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Briefing the Plan panel, Mr Chouhan said the focus of the Plan would be on creating an industry-friendly environment in which new projects could be set up without much procedural hassles. He said highest allocation would go to social services followed by transport, irrigation and energy sectors.
Mr Chouhan said a special fund for protecting forests should be created to incentivise States. He also called for a new Central scheme for construction of infrastructure for Anganwadis in the next Plan.
Madhya Pradesh, he said, had registered a growth of 10.2 per cent against a target of 7.6 per cent for the 11th Plan. The State has set a target of 12 per cent growth during the 12th Plan, he added.
On agriculture, he said efforts would be made to reach a growth of 9 per cent during next Plan. Public-private partnership in extension services and agro-processing would be encouraged, he added.
On the State's Plan performance, Mr Ahluwalia said the it had performed well, but it was yet to catch up with the national average in education and health sectors.
