Powerloom owners in the State have demanded a separate Board to regulate the sector. A resolution to this effect was adopted at the recent day-long meeting of industry representatives at Bhiwandi in the district.
The resolution said that the sector should be delinked from the Textile Ministry.
The gathering also sought substantial subsidy from the State and central Governments, and concessions in power tariff.
Another resolution urged for the relocation of the office of Regional Textile Commissioner to Bhiwandi.
