It was not a typical weekend of partying for a group of 200 techies with the burning desire to make it big.

These young techies presented their project roadmaps at SmashUp, where about 120 start-ups participated. Of this, 20 start-ups were given a chance to pitch for funds.

The ideas included eatery search, weekend networking, social learning and school learning modules.

TiE, StartupSaturday and IIIT-H organised the day-long SmashUP, a rendezvous of early stage start-ups with investors. TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) has brought angel investors to the table. .

“We also provide easy access to angel investments through Hyderabad Angels and in later stages to VCs through networking. We also handhold them as they implement their projects,” said Col. Ravi Babu, Executive Director of TiE (Hyderabad).

These start-ups and early stage start-ups have listened to the likes of Mr B.V. R. Mohan Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Infotech Enterprises. Mr Ramesh Loganathan, Vice-President (Products) and Centre Head of Progress Software, Mr Sateesh Andra, Venture partner at DFJ, Mr Ranjith Menon (IDG Ventures), Mr Raghu Bata (Ojas Ventures), Mr Karthik (Song Advisors) and Ms Deepanwita Chattopadhyay, Chief Executive Officer of IKP also shared their views.
