The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the Union Minister for Shipping, Mr G.K.Vasan, to expedite the introduction of Tuticorin-Colomo passenger shipping service as early as possible.
In a memorandum submitted to the Minister at New Delhi recently, a delegation from the Chamber consisting of President Mr N. Jegatheesan and senior President, Mr S. Rethinavelu, accompanied by former Member of Parliament, Mr A.G.S.Rambabu, pointed out that the number businessmen, tourists and workmen from the southern districts to Sri Lanka was gradually on the increase. People have to travel to Chennai or Tiruchi for boarding flights to Colombo.
It urged the Minister to introduce the service positively from April.
