The Visakhapatnam police recovered Rs 1.5 crore missing from the currency chest of the main branch of the Central Bank of India here at Seemtampeta. At a press meet here on Sunday, Mr J. Poornachandra Rao, the city police commissioner, said the police had received a complaint from the Central Bank of India, Seetampeta, on June 29 that Rs 1.6 crore was missing from the currency chest of the bank. The police investigation revealed that the bank employee, Mr Abhayanand Paswan, was involved and it was carried out in June. He was the currency chest in-charge during the period.
He was subsequently transferred to Jharkhand and a team of police officials visited Jharkhand and arrested the accused and recovered most of the amount from his house Some of the amount was recovered from a friend of the accused
