The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with Greater Geneva Berne area, Switzerland, organised a presentation highlighting the opportunities available at Geneva area for start-up ventures.
The Greater Geneva Berne area (GGBa) is a non-profit organisation created by the Regional Governments of Western Switzerland. Its main objective is to bring the needed support to foreign companies wishing to develop business in Europe. This support is free of cost and varied.
Mr Thomas Bohn, Deputy Director, GGBa Switzerland, and Mr Luc Prem Jalais, Director in India, made presentations.
The region's assets that can be leveraged for a prospective investor include highly qualified and multilingual staff, R&D facilities, positive budget, no labour strikes, gateway to European market, transparent tax structure, and most modern infrastructure connectivity, besides capitalising on the world renowned ‘Swiss Made' tag. This single window concept will ensure that a business can start working within two months of submitting a clear project proposal.
He also mentioned that there exists opportunity for Kerala-based companies in rubber, spices and tea to develop into the European market. The area also offers abundant scope in Biotechnology, Pharma and ICT based ventures.
