South Korea’s Kumho Tyres will recall more than 300,000 substandard tyres in China, beginning April 15. The recalled products were made between 2008 and 2011, official Xinhua news agency reported.
China’s state television CCTV reported in mid-March that Kumho, one of the largest tyre manufacturers in China, was using high amount of recycled tyres as raw material in its manufacturing facility in the northern municipality of Tianjin.
The state television added that these tyres could rupture.
Kumho’s China subsidiary head Mr Lee Han-seop publicly apologised to Chinese consumers on a CCTV programme on March 21.
