The Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, on Wednesday expanded his Council of Ministers by inducting six Ministers of State.
With this, the strength of the Modi Ministry has increased to 27, the maximum permissible for Gujarat.
The six Ministers sworn in by the Governor, Dr Kamala, at a simple ceremony on the lawns of the Raj Bhawan here were Mr Liladhar Vaghela (BJP MLA from Deodhar), Mr Ishvarbhai Patel (Ankleshvar), Mr Ranjit Gilatwala (Surat), Mr Jitu Sukhadia (Vadodara), MrJaydrathsinh Parmar (Halol) and Mr Mohan Kunderia (Tankara). Their portfolios are expected to be announced soon.
Two of those sworn-in , Mr Parmar and Mr Patel were Parliamentary Secretaries in the State Government. This is the second Cabinet expansion in six months and follows less than a week after Mr Modi inducted eight BJP leaders as Chairpersons of the State Public Sector Boards and Corporations.
