India will soon be able to open Free Trade Agreement negotiations with Australia.
This follows the Trade and Economic Relations Committee (TERC) giving its approval for launch of such negotiations. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The TERC also approved the establishment of a Joint Study Group to examine the policy framework for enhancing bilateral economic relations between India and Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). The JSG will also assess the feasibility of a comprehensive FTA/PTA covering trade in goods, services and investment.
