The Joint Action Council of Traders of Tamil Nadu, has, in a release, informed that consequent to the Election Commissioner of Tamil Nadu, inviting them for a discussion on search and seizure of cash of traders/representatives in transit and the general public at large by the officials on the pretext of checking distribution of cash for votes, said that the announcement earlier to go ahead with an agitation on Friday if not invited, has been withdrawn.
The Chief Election Commissioner, Mr Praveen Kumar, requested them to give in writing their representation and the Council has recommended that no evidence should be demanded for carrying cash below Rs. 3 lakh and the officials to accept for amount of more than Rs 3 lakh, a bank chellan/Xerox copy of cheque for withdrawal of cash, a letter head of the company with TIN number and collection details, a statement in a letter head of the company with details of items carried other than cash, self declaration while carrying cash for disbursals of salary and wages etc.
