PPP programme
Weir BDK and the Karnataka department of education, Hubli-Dharwad, has embarked on public-private partnership (PPP) programme to provide quality education to the school children of Gokul and adjoining villages. The PPP project is aimed at supporting and preparing children for higher and better education by providing additional resources, such as the ‘Karadi Path' English-speaking course. The company is also adding to existing amenities and infrastructure through building the new block, new toilets, providing safe drinking water facilities and facilitating repair of the existing three blocks. Speaking on the occasion Mr Cochrane said “The Weir Group is committed to the communities where it operates, seeking to actively contribute in areas such as health and education in particular.” Mr Naveen Ganzu, Country Head, Weir India, said “The School's infrastructure has been developed step by step. Within a year, we have been able to move from laying the foundation of the new block, to inaugurating this remarkable extension. We are confident that this public-private partnership will in the long term open wonderful avenues for the children, especially girls, of Gokul and Hubli.”
