The Apparel Export Promotion Council’s (AEPC) participation in the Australia International Sourcing Fair (AISF) at Melbourne between November 13 and 15 is considered more significant this year as the negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between India and Australia have reached an advanced stage.
Participating in the AISF this year is, therefore, seen as providing Indian exporters the right opportunity to tap the Australian clothing market.
The Australian apparel market is estimated at $5.61 billion, of which India’s exports to Australia in 2012 are said to be of the order of $103 million.
Urging its members to participate in the three-day event and associate themselves with the Brand India image, the AEPC said the participating fee was highly subsidised by the council as compared to going directly to AISF.
