Some 23 per cent of 10.94 lakh kg offered at Sale No: 12 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auction remained unsold with prices rising ₹1.50 a kg.
Four grades of CTC teas from bought leaf factories entered the high-price bracket of ₹200 and more per kg.
Darmona Estate tea, auctioned by J Thomas and Co., topped CTC market and Leaf auctions fetching ₹226.
Super Red Dust tea, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, topped the Dust market fetching ₹211. Homedale Estate’s Red Dust tea (₹210) and Pekoe Dust (₹200), both auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, were the only other grades which entered the ₹200-and-more bracket. In all, 67 marks got ₹125 and more.
Kairbetta topped orthodox teas from corporate sector fetching ₹245. Chamraj Estate and Kodanad got ₹240 each, Corsley ₹210 and Havukal ₹205. In all, 41 marks got ₹125 and more.
Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹50-54 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹100-160 for brighter liquoring sorts.
They ranged ₹58-64 for plain dusts and ₹110-175 for brighter liquoring dusts.
There was some purchase for Pakistan in range ₹58-84 a kg.
