92% Coonoor tea sold

Around 92 per cent of the offer at Sale No: 33 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price rising to ₹87.96 a kg from the last week’s ₹86.78 due to better demand. This was the highest price in the last 16 weeks. Homedale Estate’s Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC auctions when Om Enterprises bought it for ₹229 a kg. Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹228. In the CTC Leaf tea auctions, Homedale’s Broken Pekoe grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹217. Among orthodox teas, Kodanad topped at ₹286 a kg. Chamraj got ₹245 and Kairbetta ₹227. Teas from all other factories fetched less than ₹200/kg.
