The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, has approved the construction of Pulakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme under the Guru Raghavendra Project in Anantapur district with an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore.
According to a statement, the proposed lift irrigation scheme on the Tungabhadra river will benefit 9,830 acres of ayacut. The necessary hydrological clearances have already been given with 0.644 tmc from Tungabhadra River.
SPORTS ISSUE
The Chief Minister announced that all cash awards pending to the national and international medal winners from Andhra Pradesh will be cleared immediately.
After a review meeting on sports and youth services, the Chief Minister agreed to make use of the Sports Tower at Gachchibowli developed during the World Military games held in Hyderabad.
This move is seen to generate funds for sports and also to pay the bank loans and other dues used for its construction.
The Government proposes to amend the orders to enable allotment of sports stadia and other sports infrastructure for non sporting events/activities on certain conditions. This will help in generation of revenues for better operation and maintenance of sports infrastructure and sports promotion.
