Jeera futures traded 0.18 per cent higher at Rs 15,150 a quintal today, as speculators created positions on tight supplies in the market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in March contract gained Rs 27 or 0.18 per cent to Rs 15,150 a quintal, with an open interest of 3,843 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January contract also traded Rs 13, or 0.09 per cent higher at Rs 14,585 a quintal, with a business turnover of 9,087 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by tight supplies and depleting stocks in the market, helped prices to inch higher at futures trade here.
