Karnataka Government plans to spend Rs 19,000 crore on irrigation projects envisaged in Upper Krishna basin, the Chief Minister, Mr D.V. Sadanada Gowda, said today. He assured people that efforts would be made to protect the interest of farmers by utilising the state's share of Krishna river waters.
A comprehensive action plan on irrigation projects coming under UKP-III stage would be prepared by end of December this year, he told reporters at Alamatti Reservoir, 65 km from here. He said top priority would be given in providing required facilities to displaced families in the dam backwaters. Bijapur district recorded less rain this year, he said, adding.
