Northwest India and East India will share the spoils of a renewed wet weather from a fresh western disturbance and the tail of a predecessor system now wagging in the eastern region of the country.

The western disturbance would affect western Himalayan region and the adjoining plains on Saturday and Sunday, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday morning.

Fairly widespread rain or snowfall would occur over Jammu and Kashmir and scattered over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Sunday and Monday.

A weather warning issued by the IMD said that isolated thunder squalls or hailstorms may occur over Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, north Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

Minimum temperatures are expected to increase by 2 to 3 deg Celsius over the plains of northwest and adjoining central India during the next three days.

Scattered rain or thundershowers would occur over Arunachal Pradesh while it would be isolated over the rest of the Northeastern States on Sunday.

Towards the east, isolated rain or thundershowers has been forecast over Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday before scaling up thereafter.

Isolated rain or thundershowers may occur over Punjab and west Rajasthan on Saturday. It would be fairly widespread over Punjab, scattered over Haryana, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh, and isolated over Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh.

An IMD update said that isolated rain or snowfall was reported during the day on Friday from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and isolated rain or thundershowers over Arunachal Pradesh.

Maximum temperatures were below normal by 2 to 4 deg Celsius over parts of northwest, central and adjoining east India.

Satellite pictures early on Saturday morning showed the presence of convective clouds over parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

An extended outlook valid until Thursday said that fairly widespread rain or thundershowers would occur over Tamil Nadu and Kerala and scattered over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka.

A watch for fresh western disturbance has been retained for the western Himalayan region from Tuesday onwards.
