The offer for the auctions at Coonoor Tea Trade Association continues to be high with huge arrivals of fresh tea.

An analysis of brokers' listing indicates that 16.83 lakh kg is being offered for Sale No: 27 to be held tomorrow and on Friday. This is the largest volume offered so far in 2011. It is some 30,000 kg more than last week's offer which was the highest volume so far. It is, however, some 4,000 kg less than the offer this time last year.

Of the 16.83-lakh kg on offer, 11.38 lakh kg belongs to the leaf grades and 5.45 lakh kg belongs to the dust grades. As much as 15.63 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.20 lakh kg, orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both the leaf and dust grades. In the leaf counter, only 0.58 lakh kg belong to orthodox while 10.80 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 0.62 lakh kg belong to orthodox while 4.83 lakh kg, CTC.

In the 16.83-lakh-kg, fresh teas account for as much as 15.24 lakh kg. Only 1.59 lakh kg comprises teas which had remained unsold in previous auctions.
