The first Spices Park in Rajasthan for processing of seed spices such as cumin, coriander and fennel will be commissioned on Saturday in Jodhpur.

The park, completed at a project cost of Rs 27 crore, is to be inaugurated by the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Anand Sharma, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Mr Ashok Gehlot, a press release issued here said.

The Spices Board has set up the park in an area of 60.07 acres provided by the Rajasthan Government free of cost at Rampura Bhatia village in Ozian tehsil. The Spice Park has common infrastructure and processing facilities for seed spices, especially for cumin and coriander that are widely grown in the State.

The machineries in the park are also capable of processing other seed spices such as fennel and fenugreek, which are quite ample in this region. A full line processing facility with a capacity to turn out two tonnes a hour with inbuilt facilities for pre-cleaning, grading, colour sorting, grinding and packing are the other features on offer at the park.

The processing facilities available at Spices Park are at a par with the international standards, the Spices Board said. The higher end processing plants installed is capable of full processing line which includes pre cleaning, grading, colour sorting, grinding and both bulk and consumer packing ranging from 100 gm to 50 kg. The installation of the machinery is complete and trial run of the plant is also been undertaken.

The Spices Board is also establishing a sterilisation facility within the plant building with a capacity of 250 kg/hour in batch process. The boiler house construction is over and the other works are under progress. Facilities for steam sterilisation are also in progress at the park.

The Board will also be allotting individual slots for exporters on lease basis for developing their own processing plants in the Park. There was tremendous response from the exporters who wanted to set up their own facilities in the Park, the release said.

Twenty exporters are to get the opportunity to set up their own processing plants. Many of them have submitted the project report to the Board to start civil work and to install their machinery.

To ensure storing of raw materials for processing and to take care of the processed materials, the Park has six warehouses exclusively devoted for various seed spices. Two raw material warehouses with a storage capacity of 800 sq m each are devoted for coriander while two other warehouses are for storing other seed spices.
