Most pulses and pulse seeds at Indore mandis are witnessing sluggish trade due to weak buying support. Among pulse seeds, the steepest fall was witnessed in tur with prices in the spot crashing by Rs 150-200 a quintal in the past two days, primarily because of increased arrival pressure in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Though local mandis remained closed on Tuesday for “ Ram Navmi ”, in private trading, tur (Maharashtra) further slipped to Rs 3,525-3,550 a quintal against Rs 3,950-3,975 a quintal few days back.
On Monday, tur (Maharashtra) quoted at Rs 3,600-3,650 a quintal.
Traders anticipate further decline on the back of increased arrival pressure. Taking cue from pulse seeds, tur dal also declined by Rs 50-100 a quintal. Tur dal (marka) saw a decline of Rs 100 at Rs 6,300 a quintal, tur dal (full) quoted at Rs 5,700-5,800 and tur dal (sawa no.) quoted at Rs 5150-5,200 a quintal.
Pressure of increased arrival and poor buying support from millers also dragged chana prices in the spot. Chana (kanta), which in the mandis on Monday was quoted at Rs 2,300-2,310 a quintal, declined to Rs 2,260-2,270, down Rs 40-50 in private trading here on Tuesday, while chana (desi) remained firm at Rs 2,275-Rs 2,300 a quintal.
Fall in chana also led to decline in chana dal with chana dal (bold) in the spot quoted Rs 25 down at Rs 2,950-2,960 a quintal, while chana dal (medium) quoted at Rs 2,850-2,860 and chana dal (average) quoted at Rs 2,725-2,750 a quintal.
