Spot rubber weakened further on Saturday. The market lost grip as the near month March contract dipped below the 200-mark on the NMCE. Though sellers dominated the session, absence of genuine buyers kept the volumes low.
Sheet rubber moved down to Rs 200 (207.50) a kg according to traders.
The undercurrent was extremely bearish possibly due to the uncertainty over the global trend succeeding the tsunami and earthquake in Japan.
RSS 4 declined at the March series to Rs 199 (206.93), April to Rs 206.13 (214.09), May to Rs 211.25 (218.50), June to Rs 217 (223.12) and July to Rs 218.37 (225.12) a kg on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 200 (207.50); RSS-5: 199 (205); ungraded: 195 (203); ISNR 20: 197 (209) and latex 60 per cent: 120 (123).
