A volume of 8.75 lakh kg will be offered for Sale No: 21 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association to conclude on Friday, reveals an analysis of listing by brokers.

It is the lowest volume offered this year. It is about 15,000 kg less than last week's offer and 6.56 lakh kg lower than the offer this time a year ago.

Of the 8.75 lakh kg on offer, leaf grades make up 6.03 lakh kg and dust grades 2.72 lakh kg. As much as 7.85 lakh kg are CTC variety and only 0.90 lakh kg are orthodox variety.

In the leaf counter, only 0.44 lakh kg belongs to orthodox, while 5.59 lakh kg are CTC. Among the dusts, only 0.46 lakh kg belong to orthodox, while 2.26 lakh kg CTC.

In the 8.75 lakh kg, fresh teas account for 8.51 lakh kg. About 24,000 kg are teas that remained unsold in previous auctions.

Last week, Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the CTC market at Rs 167 a kg followed by Hittakkal Estate at Rs 161, Shanthi Supreme and Vigneshwar Estate Rs 158 each, Blue Monte speciality Rs 152 and Kotagiri Estate speciality Rs 151.

Among orthodox teas from corporate sector, Chamraj got Rs 240, Curzon Rs 193, Havukal Rs 172, Highfield Estate Rs 170, Kairbetta Rs 166 and Tiger Hill clonal Rs 165.
