To provide reprieve to residents from the spiralling onion prices, the Uttar Pradesh district administration has announced to open 25 outlets to sell onion at Rs 22-24 per kg.
The decision was taken at a district administration meeting, official sources said here on Monday. The outlets would be open at different parts of the city, so that customers could avail of the facility without taking much pain, they said.
The administration has also asked officers to keep an eye on the situation so that hoarders do not benefit from the price rise.
“Even the wholesale sellers will not be allowed to charge much, so that prices might come down in the market”, ADM Civil Supplies, Mr SK Singh said.
